About Bluestone Estate
A Qualmark Gold collection of seven luxury private residences across three neighbouring properties on the Matakana Coast, one hour north of Auckland.
Bluestone Estate is a collection of seven private luxury residences on New Zealand's pristine Matakana Coast, just one hour north of Auckland. Set between rolling rural hills and the aqua waters of the Hauraki Gulf, the Estate unfolds across three neighbouring properties: Bluestone Main Estate, Bluestone Encampment and Bluestone Ridge.
Stay beneath the trees in a beautifully appointed safari tent, escape to an intimate coastal hideaway for two, gather family and friends in one of our larger residences, or take an entire property exclusively as your own. Each can be enjoyed individually or combined to create a private estate experience, with spaces such as the Cookhouse, our glass-walled private dining room at the Farmhouse, bringing everyone together.
Bluestone Estate is for couples, families and private groups seeking casual luxury, a connection to nature, privacy, space and exceptional comfort. It is an opportunity to live the Kiwi way, with feet in the grass or the sand.
Barefoot luxury, beautifully hosted, always.
The people behind Bluestone
Bluestone Estate is deliberately personal and deliberately Kiwi: warm, relaxed and without too much fuss. Behind it is a close-knit team who know the estate, the land and this part of the coast well. Some you'll meet; others work quietly in the background. Their care is in the details, and you'll feel it everywhere.

The owners
Bluestone Estate belongs to Andrea Grant Robbiati and Tarek Robbiati, and it reflects the way they like to live when they are home in New Zealand: doors open, shoes off, people around the table and the day shaped more by the light and the tide than the clock.
Their working lives have been considerably less quiet. Andrea spent her career leading people and culture for major global companies across New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the United States. Tarek has spent his career at the intersection of technology, finance and strategy and is currently a Silicon Valley CFO, working at the heart of the AI industry.
At Bluestone Estate, their focus is closer to the land. 250 acres of former farmland are being returned to native bush, creating habitat and a sanctuary for New Zealand's extraordinary birdlife. Across the estate, regeneration and careful stewardship sit alongside everything they build.
They both love New Zealand and the uncomplicated Kiwi way of life, and Bluestone Estate is their way of sharing it. A place for travellers to slow down, take their shoes off, spend more time outside and reconnect, with each other, and with the land.
At its heart, Bluestone Estate reflects Andrea and Tarek themselves: their warmth, friendship and love of bringing people together shape the way every guest is welcomed and cared for.

General Manager
Ana brings thirty years in hospitality and business management to her role as General Manager of Bluestone Estate, where she is responsible for every guest's stay from first enquiry to departure. She is often the host guests meet on arrival, and the person who plans the days and knows the coast well enough to recommend it with confidence.
A former yoga studio owner with a background in hospitality management, Ana has a considered appreciation of what makes a stay restorative: good food, movement, quiet, time in nature, and genuine connection. She combines that with a deep knowledge of the Matakana Coast and a commitment to the standard Bluestone Estate sets itself. Guests find her resourceful and unfailingly willing: if something can be arranged, she will arrange it.
Behind the hosting, Ana leads the development of Bluestone Estate's business systems, builds and maintains its relationships with trade and local partners, and brings new and innovative ways of working to the estate's operations. She is a committed learner, always looking for a better way to do things.

Builder and electrician
Between them, Bryn and Brad have built, wired and quietly shaped much of Bluestone Estate.
Bryn owns BMS Construction and specialises in architectural homes. He has been the builder and project manager behind every Bluestone project, working closely with Andrea to turn ideas into beautiful, original spaces designed for good living, from the Cookhouse to the Bush Hut now taking shape among the trees. He brings a builder's practicality, an eye for detail and plenty of ideas of his own. Fun fact: his favourite colour is pink, which makes him something of a rarity among Kiwi blokes.
Brad owns Inger Electrical and is behind the lighting, technology, electrical systems and solar infrastructure that keep Bluestone Estate running. His work is often invisible, which is exactly how good technology should be.
Both lead teams of first-rate tradespeople and have deep roots on this coast. They know the land, understand how things need to work here, and bring that knowledge to everything they do. And when they're not at Bluestone Estate, there's a good chance they're out on the water with a fishing rod in hand.

Landscape designer and grounds
Will, director and designer of Biome Garden Design, first came to Bluestone Estate to create the gardens around the Farmhouse at Bluestone Ridge. What he inherited was kikuyu paddock on hard hills. His idea was to bring the forest edge closer: tree ferns, cabbage trees, nīkau and griselinia drawn from the mature native bush around the property, creating a garden that feels as though it has always belonged here.
With the planting came the birds. Tūī, bellbirds and waxeyes now come close to the house, with more expected as the trees mature, flower and fruit.
Will's knowledge, skill and work ethic made him part of Bluestone Estate very quickly. Today, he and his team develop and care for the green spaces across all three properties: native planting, kitchen gardens, lawns and bush edges. The Farmhouse garden, he says, has become particularly precious to him.
One of the nicest people in the business, Will has an extraordinary knowledge of New Zealand natives (despite his English heritage, which we won't hold against him, given New Zealand was once a colony of Mother England) and has become a much-valued part of the Bluestone Estate team.

Property manager
After a long career with Aston Martin, Andrew has a deep appreciation of luxury and of the finer details that go into presenting beautiful, well-maintained things, and an incredible eye for them. When he retired to Point Wells with his wife Jillian he found himself with more free time than he needed, and Bluestone Estate was lucky enough to snap him up.
Andrew keeps the three properties running: the systems, the maintenance, the things that must work before a guest arrives. He is also the appointed test driver of the Bluestone vehicles, a duty he takes with great seriousness and no complaint.

The place
Just an hour north of Auckland, the Matakana Coast is often described as New Zealand's answer to the Hamptons: vineyards, weekend markets, beautiful food, art and design, all with a relaxed, rustic-chic Kiwi sensibility. Think less polished resort, more barefoot luxury: farm gates and cellar doors, oyster farms and long lunches, boutique shopping, sculpture trails and some of New Zealand's most picturesque beaches.
Bluestone Estate sits on the Tāwharanui Peninsula, a finger of farmland and native bush reaching into the Hauraki Gulf, surrounded by some of the region's most beautiful protected coastline.
Close enough to Auckland to arrive easily. Far enough away to feel you have discovered somewhere else entirely.

A private solar farm of 72 panels generating around 30 kW, one of the largest private installations in the area, meets roughly three quarters of the estate's annual energy needs, with battery storage and backup providing up to 96 hours of autonomy.
Rainwater is harvested into five 25,000-litre underground tanks, filtered and UV-treated, with a dedicated bore-fed supply for irrigation. No purchased water.
Smart estate automation manages heating, cooling, lighting, and pool systems remotely, so the house is warm when you arrive and resting when you are not.
Native regeneration planting across the estate, organic kitchen gardens, and hand weeding in place of sprays. Support for the Tāwharanui Open Sanctuary and local pest eradication.
Every building fitted with sprinklers, fire equipment positioned to Fire and Emergency guidance with location maps in every residence, a personal safety briefing on arrival, and a 24-hour host contact.
The proof

Bluestone Estate holds Qualmark Gold, the highest accreditation of the official quality mark of New Zealand tourism. Gold is not awarded for luxury alone: it requires independently assessed excellence across guest experience, health and safety, environmental responsibility, cultural respect, and business practice, reviewed and re-earned every year. For our guests, it means every part of a stay at Bluestone Estate, from the housekeeping standard to the safety of the pool, from how we manage waste to how we honour this place and its stories, has been examined against New Zealand's most demanding benchmark and found exceptional.
Andrea Grant Robbiati and Tarek Robbiati. Bluestone Estate is family-owned and deeply personal, created around the way they like to live in New Zealand, rather than the conventions of a hotel. A General Manager and close-knit local team take care of the estate day to day.
No, and the difference matters. There is no shared dining room, no timetable and no other guests. You have the service and attention of a luxury lodge, but entirely on your terms, and entirely in private.
On the Tāwharanui Peninsula, on the Matakana Coast, an hour north of Auckland by road or twenty minutes by helicopter, with Matakana Village just seven minutes away. Bluestone Main Estate, Bluestone Encampment and Bluestone Ridge are neighbouring properties, each with its own setting and character.

A small team, led by the General Manager. A host welcomes you, shows you the residence, and then steps back; a 24-hour contact is always available. The people who build, wire, and garden the estate are introduced above, and you may well meet them.
