Stay · Bluestone Main Estate · Matakana Coast
The Main House is the original Bluestone homestead: Hamptons meets New Zealand, on a gated peninsula seven minutes from Matakana Village. Five ensuite bedrooms sleep twelve. The living room rises to a dramatic vaulted ceiling, anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace of South Island bluestone. Bifold doors span the length of the house, opening to the infinity pool and uninterrupted views across the Matakana estuary to the low-slung form of Mt Tamahunga beyond.
Struck-through dates are booked. Choose a check-in date, then a check-out date. Rates and the final booking are on the next page.

The residence
Mornings begin in the kitchen, with a butler's pantry, wine fridge and Italian espresso machine, and bifold windows opening directly to the outdoor table for long breakfasts and alfresco dining. The TV room has a gas fire and a chaise sofa deep enough to lose an afternoon in. Across the house, places to sit and gather flow between indoors and out, with fireplaces for cooler evenings and, when the season allows, the industrial firepit overlooking the water. Air conditioning and heating throughout, high-speed Wi-Fi, Apple TV and a fully equipped laundry make longer stays effortless.

Sleeping
Wake to native birdsong. Each bedroom has its own character and its own Moroccan-tiled ensuite, with plush towels and premium botanical amenities. The four ground-floor bedrooms open through French doors onto an east-facing deck, with Adirondack chairs for the morning sun and the bush at the edge of the lawn. Upstairs, the loft bunk room has a TV and a sofa: a place for children, teenagers, or grown-ups who want a corner of their own.

The grounds
The house settles into a gentle slope, surrounded by sweeping lawns and native bush. Below, tucked out of sight, is a full-size astroturf tennis court with a basketball hoop. Beyond are spaces for whatever pace the day takes: the yoga dome for a private session, breathwork or meditation; a fully equipped gym; and the pool house games room with pool table and darts.
Eight e-bikes are ready for rides to the village or the beach, with pétanque on the lawn, a barbecue, and the infinity pool and spa closer to home. A private helipad allows arrivals by air.
Walking tracks wind through the bush, alive with native birds. And if you're lucky, the tūī will provide the soundtrack.

Amenities
No. Every booking is private and exclusive to your party. Book an individual residence and it is entirely yours; book the whole property and every residence and shared space is yours alone. The only exception is Bluestone Encampment, where the three residences share the pool and laundry when booked separately.
No, and the difference matters. There is no shared dining room, no timetable and no other guests. You have the service and attention of a luxury lodge, but entirely on your terms, and entirely in private.
Yes. There are no other guests to disturb. Kids run barefoot across the paddocks, cannonball into the pool, and fall asleep at the table.
Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am. Ask about an earlier arrival or later departure and we will see if we can make it work based on our calendar.
